Preamble The Larkinor Quest is published under the same general terms of other FlyOrDie online games. Additional terms below refer exclusively to the game 'The Larkinor Quest' and they never void the validity of any general term. Introduction This page contains the policies under which users may participate in the game 'The Larkinor Quest' (Larkinor). The goal of these policies is to provide an enjoyable experience for the majority of the users. Larkinor is a multiplayer game, and sometimes there can be a conflict between an individual user's idea of entertainment and that of the majority of the players. To improve gameplay experience for as many people as possible, the majority will be given the greatest weight. Please read these policies carefully so you understand the rules under which you can play Larkinor and interact with other players. General Larkinor is an online game that can be played in a javascript-enabled web browser. The game's content is provided by a game server. If the service is down, FlyOrDie can only promise to make a reasonable effort to fix a software problem or to return service as quickly as possible (except in cases where the service interrupt is not related to the Larkinor product itself). FlyOrDie will make reasonable efforts to restore any loss of character attributes, items, etc, if a global error caused the problem (eg. global database inconsistency). FlyOrDie is NOT RESPONSIBLE for the loss of data due to the player's fault. Keep It Legal No illegal activities are allowed in Larkinor. You may not use the game's channels to publish, post, distribute or disseminate defamatory, infringing, obscene or other unlawful material or information, specifically, but not limited to, child pornography, bestiality or incest. Also, players may not promote the use or distribution of illegal drugs. Players may not use Larkinor to distribute urls to external sites that promote illegal activities and violate the code of conduct. Players may not upload files or post messages that contain photos, music, software or other material protected by intellectual property laws, rights of privacy or publicity or any other applicable law unless they own or control the rights thereto or have received all the necessary consents. FlyOrDie is not responsible for any use of anything you say or post. IMPORTANT: Players risk immediate ban if they build, host or even promote sites and/or web content for facilitating cheating, threats of cheating and any type of hacking content. Character Names Generally, it is up to the player to decide the name for his or her character while playing Larkinor. However, some character names will be considered abusive behaviour: for example, names indicating other specific player characters, the players themselves, FlyOrDie staff, or any real-life personal information will not be accepted. It is also unacceptable to use profanity, racially or sexually explicit words or generally threatening wording as a player's character name. "Kill_XXXX" is an example of an unacceptable name. Judgment of what is and is not disruptive is entirely at the discretion of FlyOrDie. Bug Abuse, Hacks and Trainers This section refers to creating or using any program or technique resulting in unfair advantage via an undocumented feature or disrupting the datastream to and from the server. Such Trainers, Anti-Idle Macros, Bots or any other 'hacks' destroy the balance of play in Larkinor and reduce its effectiveness to remain an entertaining product. While a player may think that abusing a bug for personal gain may not affect others, the fact is that it distorts power, creates imbalances in riches, and is otherwise unfair to players abiding by normal game rules. Players must agree that the consequences of allowing bugs and loopholes to be exploited is so detrimental to the product, that FlyOrDie will exercise no tolerance whatsoever for anyone participating in this type of activity. Bugs should always be reported. If you observe someone else abusing a serious bug, or discussing a plan to abuse one, and fail to report it, you are subject to the same penalties as they are. Players should report bugs by sending a message about the problem to . Rewards obtained from bug abuse may be confiscated at FlyOrDie's sole discretion. Failure to cooperate with FlyOrDie as to the extent or nature of a bug, or failure to be honest about the rewards obtained from bug abuse, is grounds for immediate lockout from Larkinor. Bug Reporting As new features, levels and other content are continuously added to Larkinor, there WILL be bugs occasionally. Bug reports should follow the instructions for reporting bugs included on the Larkinor website. Personal gripes, complaints about other players or staff and ideas for changing Larkinor content are NOT bugs and should not be included either as a bug posting or within a bug posting. Unacceptable postings include: "Player X killed me because he is a jerk...", "I don't like this level. It is stupid..." etc. Proper postings include a 3-4 sentence description of what happened:
Game Staff The staff of Larkinor are often online to help players who have genuine problems with game play. Players must realise that complaints for issues related to general gameplay detract the Staff's ability to help others in genuine need. Because Larkinor is available for users in across the world and through many time zones, Staff members may not always be online or available in real-time to help with issues. In such instances, subscribing players are to use the Larkinor info e-mail address to report their problems to the appropriate staff. Larkinor Staff will make every effort to respond as quickly as possible. Game Content Updates FlyOrDie reserves the right to make modifications to any and all game content and rules at any time, without notice. FlyOrDie has the responsibility to preserve the balance of the game for the majority of the players. Therefore, FlyOrDie will routinely add new content, rules, modify existing rules, and even go back and change new content that did not function as expected. These changes can impact your character in a variety of ways. If you feel that the change unfairly penalizes your character, or your character type, given the requirements of balance, challenge, and the general good of the game, then you may make your views known to FlyOrDie via Larkinor info e-mail. It should be understood, however, that FlyOrDie maintains a longer range view which may be in conflict with short-term and character-specific interests, but FlyOrDie will always attempt to make the best decision for the overall good of the game. Delays / Slowdowns Larkinor Server and Backend is designed to provide optimal network efficiency. Our servers are designed NOT to disadvantage players with slow connections. We also make efforts to ensure network slowdowns are not a result of Larkinor Server-side components. However, some network delay is a normal consequence of playing a game with hundreds or thousands of simultaneously connections over the Internet. Delays are typically only a few seconds, but may occasionally be longer. Additionally, some delays may affect only one player, because he or she is having problems with a local network node. FlyOrDie reserves the right of final judgment as to the verification of any slowdown-related claims. Competitive Events While there are a wide variety of events and quests found in Larkinor worlds, some events pit player versus player, or teams of players versus other teams. All players must agree that there are elements of combat and competitive events in Larkinor. Through either their experience or their accumulated player attributes and weapons, some players will have competitive advantages over others. This is part of normal gameplay. It is not acceptable, however, for such advantaged players to repeatedly prey upon weaker players or 'newbies'. Such 'stalking' of weak players or newbies may be in violation of Larkinor policy. This does NOT give the players that are victims in combat the right to complain to Police each time they are killed. FlyOrDie will almost always stay out of player conflicts. However, when player activities create a disruptive influence on Larkinor in general, the participants will be warned. FlyOrDie reserves the right to determine which behaviours are considered abusive. Score Lists FlyOrDie is the sole judge of the accuracy of any high score lists and other event score listings. An announcement by FlyOrDie as to the winners of an event, is final. Loss of Items There are many items that players accumulate during regular gameplay, through quests, through sparring and events. In rare cases, these items can be inexplicably lost. FlyOrDie staff hasn't got a record of these items and cannot trace the reason for the loss. FlyOrDie staff will not replace or repair the items. The decision to replace items is the sole discretion of FlyOrDie staff. Destructed Characters If your character is destructed because of other user's illegal actions, FlyOrDie staff will give some silver to your character, which will help to solve the problem. The amount of the silver depends on the character's current experience level. Miscellaneous FlyOrDie reserves the right to make special-case adjustments to its policies and the steps it takes concerning violation of these policies. |
